From 14-16 May, Denmark hosted the IEAGHG Executive Committee meeting for the first time since joining the prominent global organisation last year. The International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme (IEAGHG) is dedicated to advancing carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies through data-driven methods and multinational collaboration.
Denmark’s membership in the IEAGHG is anchored in INNO-CCUS, with Partnership Director Karina Søgaard serving as the country’s representative. To set the stage for this significant event, INNO-CCUS hosted a seminar on 13 May, highlighting Denmark’s advancements in CCS to an audience of international experts.
The seminar featured key presentations that underscored Denmark’s commitment to CCS innovation. Anders Hoffmann and Henrik Sulsbrück presented the Danish Policy Case, detailing the country’s policy implementation and progress. Jesper Sand Damtoft from Aalborg Portland A/S showcased innovative efforts to reduce emissions, while Nina Skaarup from GEUS discussed Denmark’s significant potential for underground CO2 storage.
These presentations highlighted Denmark’s pivotal role in the global CCS community and set the tone for the IEAGHG Executive Committee meeting.
