Carbon capture Open tests and Review of Technologies
First generation amine CC systems are available to be implemented on a large scale. Chemical CC is the only CC technology which can be up-scaled and implemented widely before 2030. Therefore, chemical CC will most likely be the first CC technology widely implemented. Currently, there are no economic incentives towards implementation of CC within the heavy industry. Furthermore, Denmark (and EU) does not yet have a CO2 infrastructure. An optimized solvent and process integration is required to lower the price for large scale CC systems.
The assessment and measurement of air emissions is an integral part of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of CC processes and can ensure implementation without detrimental impact to environment or society.
The project will investigate demonstration solvents and process technologies for carbon capture (CC) and find the best suited solvents and processes for different CC cases.
The project will provide an overview and comparison of the different CC processes that are available today. In depth testing of solvents with several different process equipment will result in optimized CC conditions. The optimized conditions found in this project will benefit all the solvents tested. The project will help CO2 emitters to choose the best suited solution for emission reduction and may also result in more CC installations in Denmark.
- Create an overview table comparing innovative solvents on key process parameters.
- Demonstrate both different solvents and different processes for chemical CC.
- Find suitable process integrations for the different solvents
- Compare operation conditions at different test sites.
